Day[9]'s Recommendation List
Here are a list of things I really like! Feel free to ch-ch-check'em out :D
The third title in the Diablo franchise, this game... wait why are you reading this and not playing it already?
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning combines the massive open world you'll find in a game like Skyrim with a combat system from a game like God of War. I got the chance to play the demo (found here) and LOVED it. I'll be streaming it for 8 hours on Tuesday Feb 7th at 2pm PST! Check out the demo above and if you like it, buy it :D. Penny Arcade's Review
The Art of Learning is an essential reading item for anyone interested in competitive gaming. Josh Waitzkin, the author, grew up playing chess competitively, traveling to tournaments and training under Grandmasters. In his early adulthood, he stepped into Tai Chi Chuan as a way to relax. Soon enough, however, Waitzkin was competiting at an international level in Tai Chi Chuan. The book is about how he was able to reach the pinnacle of two disciplines that, on the surfacen, seem to be completely different. Josh Waitzkin shares his greatest skill: how to learn.
Akira is always near the top of my recommendation list for someone interested in comics (or interested in stepping into the medium for the first time!). Akira is set in a futuristic Neo-Tokyo years after a catastrophe that annihilated the entire city. The story begins as immense telekinetic powers slowly awaken in an insecure biker gang member named Tetsuo, making him the target for a secret government agency. Despite a wide cast of characters with intertwining storylines, Akira is an incredible easy and fast paced read with breathtaking art and visuals. I consider it to be in my top 5 fictional works in any medium. READ THIS BOOK!
